50 Cent has a thriller coming out later this year, People magazine reports.
Amistad will publish the rapper, actor, and entrepreneur’s The Accomplice, co-written with Aaron Philip Clark (Under Color of Law) this summer. An Amazon page for the novel says the book “combines the imaginative page-turning suspense of S. A. Cosby’s novels with the high-tension thrills of the Netflix blockbuster series Money Heist.”
The novel will follow Nia Turner, a Black woman Texas Ranger on the trail of a Vietnam veteran turned thief who blackmails a wealthy family.
“I want to bring a big heist story to the page,” 50 Cent said in a statement. “My debut fiction novel and its follow-up series will be captivating.”
50 Cent is the author of previous books including a young adult novel, Playground, and nonfiction titles including The 50th Law, co-written with Robert Greene, and Hustle Smarter Hustle Harder, published under his birth name, Curtis Jackson. A critic for Kirkus wrote of that book, “Savor the celebrity gossip and push through to the lessons of one of hip-hop’s most successful businessmen ever.”
Amistad executive editor Patrik Henry Bass told People, “The Accomplice is going to surprise readers in wonderful ways. It’s everything you want in a page-turner: vivid writing, complex, multi-dimensional characters, many plot twists, witty dialogue and Curtis’ inimitable charm and authenticity.”
50 Cent announced the news of his new book on Instagram in a post that seemed to ding Floyd Mayweather Jr., the boxer whom 50 Cent has previously suggested is illiterate (a claim that Mayweather refutes).
“I have no beef with anyone, I even made sure the audiobook comes out at the same time so champ won’t feel left out,” 50 Cent wrote.
The Accomplice is slated for publication on Sept. 3.
